PUNE DIVISION

ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT

 
INTRODUCTION AND ORGANISATIONAL SETUP

Electrical Department in Pune Division Looks after the maintenance and operation of Sub-urban services and electric locos in electrified territory ofPune-Lonavala section (215 TKM),maintenance of TRD assets of 215 TKM OHE & power supply equipments, maintenance of General Service’s assets all over Pune Division and maintenance of TL and AC coaches at Pune and Kolhapur.

 

ORGANIZATION:


Sr. DEE (TR) is overall in charge of electrical branch of the division and directly looks after Traction branch. For TRD and LOCO/EMU operation/maintenance, assistance is provided by ADEE (TR).

 

Divisional Electrical Engineer (G), who is a branch officer, looks after TL/AC and General Services and is assisted by an ADEE (G).

 

 

(A)ELECTRIC TRACTION DISTRIBUTION:

OVERHEAD EQUIPMENT:

As brought out above, the total TKM electrified is 215 TKM and consists of compound catenary i.e. main catenary of 323 sq. mm, auxiliary catenary of 129 sq. mm. and contact wire of 193 sq. mm. The total cross-section is of 645 sq. mm.

 

 

SUB STATIONS:

 

There are two sub-stations in PA division. These sub-stations have 2X21.6 MVA capacity traction transformers. Besides, there are two SPs and four SSPs for sectionalizing the system. Power supply is availed from 2 Nos. of 110KV transmission lines (116 KM.) from Thakurli and transmitted to sub-stations from KYN to KK. At Thakurli, Power supply is obtained from M/s. TATA at 110 KV.

 

 

110 KV LINE:


The power obtained from Thakurli at 110 KV is transmitted to two sub-stations at Talegaon and Khadki, through 2 different overhead transmission lines (SE- I and SE- II). The total length of 110 KV transmission lines is 58 X 2 = 116 Kilometers.

 

 

(B)ELECTRICAL (TRS)

EMU Operation and Maintenance:-

40 local train services comprising of 34 in PA-LNL section and 6 in PA-TGN section are being run by 4 numbers of 12-Car rakes in Pune Division. All the 9-Car rakes have been converted to 12-Car DC-AC rakes. The crew and maintenance staff has been trained to cater to DC-AC BHEL rakes.

The major maintenance of EMU rakes is carried out at KLVA car-shed of Mumbai division. Four rakes of KLVA carshed are operated on PA division for providing EMU services. For upkeep of rakes, Pune division is having one minor EMU train examination depot (TSRT Depot).

For sub-urban train operation, Crew booking is done in combined crew lobby. There are 31 motorman based at Pune for running the services.

The following activities are carried out at Pune maintenance depot to operate the EMU service in the section smoothly.

 

a)Rolling in and night safety Examination is carried out at Pune and Lonavala to detect any irregularity in under gear.

b)Weekly safety examination: - Weekly safety examination (Without pit line) is done in day time in three hours duration at Pune.

Stabling lines

a) At PA two lines for three rakes.

b) At LNL one line for one rake.

Electric Loco Operation and Maintenance:

Electric loco operation in PA-LNL section is looked after by Sr. DEE (TR), PA. Average 40 Mail/Express trains are being run with electric loco in the section.

Electric loco trip shed at Pune provides Visual Inspection, Trip Schedule and unscheduled attention to electric locomotives. 530 numbers of trip schedules has been carried out during this year till October 2010.

RUNNING ROOM:

Pune Running Room caters to Mail Exp. Drivers, Assistant Drivers, Guards and TTE’s of Mumbai, Solapur and Pune division.

 

The running room is classified under ‘A’ class, and is the model Running Room of the division. There are a total of 22 bed-rooms, 4 dining halls, 2 kitchens, 2 store rooms, 01 entertainment cum reading room, and 16 Bathrooms & 17 toilets with a total capacity of 192 beds. The average occupancy of the running room is more than 375.

 

 

(C) ELECRICAL (GENERAL)

     Electrical General Service Branch of Pune Division caters for power supply to stations, service buildings, sheds, workshops, maintenance sidings and staff colonies, hospitals including maintenance of general service assets like sub-stations, AC plants, water coolers, DG sets, UPS and other electrical assets like lights, fans & yard lighting.

There are 27 HT sub-stations (22 KV – 5 nos. and 11KV – 22 nos.) with 49 nos. of transformers of various capacity with vast network of under ground cables and overhead distributions system to feed the electric power to all installations of Pune Division. The required power is purchased from local electricity authorities at all 27 HT locations & 263 LT connections.

 

The electrical General Services Branch also carries out the primary and secondary maintenance of train lighting coaches and maintenance of AC coaching stock. There has been considerable increase in holding of AC coaches in previous years.As on date the AC coach holding of Pune Division is 105 AC Coaches (83 RMPU & 22 U/S) and 600 TL coaches including spare and sick coaches of Pune Division. The primary and secondary maintenance of coaching stock is carried out at Pune,

  1. OSM MAINTENANCE DEPOT :-

OSM maintenance depots are set up at Pune, Diesel Shed GPR and MRJ to look after the maintenance of all General Services Assets of respective sections.

  1. COACHING MAINTENANCE DEPOT : -

TL/AC coaching maintenance depots are set up at PA, MRJ and KOP to perform the primary and secondary maintenance of all originating and terminating trains.
