Central Railway Achieves Major Infrastructure Milestones in FY 2024-25

Central Railway continues its relentless focus o­n passenger safety, convenience, and infrastructure upgradation, achieving significant milestones in the financial year 2024-25.

Foot Over Bridges (FOBs)
To enhance passenger safety and ease of movement, new Foot Over Bridges have been commissioned at 14 stations, viz:
•Mumbai Division: Govandi, Khandi, Badlapur, Kaman Road
•Bhusawal Division: Ankai
•Nagpur Division: Teegaon, Pandhurna, Bharatwada
•Pune Division: Yeola, Nimblak, Akolner, Vilad, Patas
Additionally, 3 new FOBs have been constructed in the Mumbai suburban section to control trespassing:
•Between Wadala – Kings Circle (Mid-Section)
•Between Govandi – Mankhurd (Mid-Section)
•Between Shahad – Ambivli (Mid-Section)

Station Upgrades
•Major redevelopments at CSMT, Nagpur, and Ajni underway.
•Soft upgradation at 22 stations in progress
•A high-level platform has been constructed at Hotgi station.
•Nashik Road station has undergone significant enhancement with an improved front façade and circulating area.
•At Khandwa, a new Second Class Waiting Hall and Booking Office have been provided o­n Platform No. 6. 
Track Infrastructure Enhancement
Central Railway has made substantial progress in upgrading its track infrastructure to support higher speeds and safer operations.
Speed Upgradation
Sectional speeds have been increased as follows:
•Butibori–Umrer (31 km): from 50 to 75 kmph
•Panvel–JNPT (28.06 km): from 65 to 95 kmph
•Tilaknagar–Panvel (32.53 km): from 80 to 95 kmph
•Panvel–Karjat (26.18 km): from 105 to 110 kmph
•Badnera–Amravati (9.00 km): from 90 to 110 kmph
•Jalamb–Khamgaon (12.34 km): from 90 to 110 kmph
•Bhusawal–Khandwa (122.8 km): from 110 to 130 kmph

Track Renewal and Safety Measures
•434 km of track renewal completed
•702 km of deep screening
•893 turnouts renewed
•11.16 lakh cum of ballast inserted
•Rail fractures/weld failures significantly reduced to 65 cases

Bridge Works
Central Railway has completed the rehabilitation of 212 bridges. This includes:
•5 Important Bridges
•54 Major Bridges
•153 Minor Bridges
This is the highest number of bridge rehabilitations achieved in the last five years.
Elimination of Level Crossings
As part of its mission to enhance safety, Central Railway has eliminated 31 manned level crossings in FY 2024-25:
•6 through Road Over Bridges (ROBs)
•22 through Road Under Bridges (RUBs)
•3 through road diversions
