Central Railway’s "Zero Scrap” mission gains momentum – registers revenue of Rs 150.81 crores from Sale of scrap.

This is the highest percentage increase of Sale of Scrap over proportionate sale target for period from April to August-2023

Central Railway has launched the "Zero-Scrap" mission to ensure that every Division, Workshop, and Shed is entirely free from scrap materials within a prescribed time.

Central Railway has taken significant steps to identity and dispose off various types of scrap, including overaged Locos, Diesel Surplus Locos, un-operational rail lines and overaged or accidental locos/coaches, giving priority to this task.

This determined effort has yielded impressive results, with Central Railway achieving the scrap sales of Rs. 150.81 Crores as o­n 31.8.2023 marking a remarkable increase of 37.10% compared to Railway Board’s pro-rata target till August 2023.

This is the highest percentage increase over proportionate sale target for period April to August-2023 ever achieved by Central Railway

This has been achieved through sale of-

·6086 Metric Tonnes of Rails,

·09 Locomotives,

·160 Coaches,and

·61 Wagons (Including 12 KM Jamner-Pachora Section Narrow Gauge Line in Bhusawal division.)

Major contribution towards Mission Zero Scrap – Scrap sale revenue of Rs.150.81 crores for the period April to August-2023 are as follows.

1.Matunga Depot achieved Scrap sale of Rs.27.12 Crores.

2.Mumbai Division achieved Scrap sale of Rs.25.97 Crores

3.Bhusawal Division achieved Scrap sale of Rs.22.25 Crores.

4.Pune division achieved Scrap sale of Rs.16.08 Crores.

5.Electric loco shed Depot of Bhusaval achieved Scrap sale of Rs.16.05 Crores.

6.Solapur Division achieved Scrap sale of Rs.11.36 Crores and

7.Nagpur division achieved Scrap sale of Rs.10.07 Crores.

8.Other locations o­n Central Railway have collectively achieved Scrap sale of Rs.21.91 Crores.

Central Railway remains steadfast in its commitment for achieving a scrap-free status for all Divisions and Depots under the ambit of the Zero Scrap Mission besides surpassing the Railway Board Target of Rs. 300 Cr for year 2023-24.
