Apprehension of 2 gold smugglers with 8.5 to 9 kg gold worth 5.4 crore in train no. 12130 Howrah-Pune Azad Hind Express at Nagpur station
                

On date 12.10.2023 as the train 12130 Howrah-Pune Azad Hind express departed from Howrah, a message was received by RPF Nagpur post, Shri R.L.Meena/RPF Staff from a reliable source regarding smuggled gold taking the train route.

The matter was conveyed to his Superiors- Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Nagpur (SR DSC/Nagpur) and Assistant Security Commissioner (ASC) Nagpur.

Further as per the instructions of Sr.DSC, a special team consisting of 8 RPF personnel-
Head Constable Shri. Madan Lal,
Constable (CT) Shri. Mohan Lal Dewangan,
CT Shri. Amol Chahajgune, CT Shri. Sachin Sirsat,
Sub-inspector (ASI) Shri. Mukesh Rathore,
CT Shri. Jasvir Singh, 
CIB/Nagpur, Lady constable Smt. Sirin

And with assistance of Inspector Crime investigation branch (CIB)/Nagpur and  along with 3 Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officers searched the above train and identified 2 suspect passengers-

Named Rahul, 36 years & Baluram, 41 years both of Nagpur, seated o­n berth no. 28 & 24 in S-4 coach with 2 pitoo bags which was having Gold biscuits around 8.5 to 09 kg.

They were detained at Nagpur railway station o­n platform no. 8 with the help of duty staff of RPF Post  and  were taken to DRI office for further legal action. 

The recovered gold metal has been confiscated by DRI officials and the market value of confiscated gold is approximately Rs 5.4 crores. Investigation is in progress and search is o­n for arresting other accomplices involved.
