Central Railway turns scrap into revenue-

"Zero Scrap” mission gains momentum – registers 39.91 % increase of Sale of Scrap over proportionate sale target for period up to October-2023

Central Railway has taken significant steps to identity and dispose off various types of scrap, including overaged Locos, Diesel Surplus Locos, un-operational rail lines and overaged or accidental locos/coaches, thereby turning its scrap into revenue.

This is part of its "Zero-Scrap" mission to ensure that every Division, Workshop, and Shed is entirely free from scrap materials within a prescribed time.

These determined efforts  have yielded impressive results, with Central Railway achieving the scrap sales of Rs. 223.85 Crores as o­n 31.10.2023  as against proportionate sale target of 160 crores, marking a remarkable increase of 39.91% higher than the proportionate sale target for the period.

In the month of October-2023 Central Railway has registered an amount of Rs.30.40 crores as revenue from  sale of scrap.

This has been achieved through sale of-

•           15,950 Metric Tonnes of Rails,

•           13 Locomotives,

•           203 Coaches,and

•           113 Wagons (Including 20 KM Jamner-Pachora Section Narrow Gauge Line in Bhusawal division.)
