Central Railway Enhances Signaling And Telecommunication Infrastructure In November 2023

Central Railway has made significant advancements in signalling and telecommunication infrastructure across its divisions during the month of November 2023 as under:

Signal Upgrades:

In a proactive move towards modernization, Central Railway has made remarkable strides in signalling technology:

- Signaling Provision: 4 Panel Interlocking systems at Bhugaon (Nagpur division), Khadki (Pune division), Belvandi and Visapur (Solapur division) were replaced with Electronic Interlocking (EI) systems, elevating the total count to 18 replacements in the current fiscal year. These replacements contribute to enhanced operational efficiency and safety measures.

- Automatic Block Section (ABS): The commissioning of Automatic Block Section at 6.24 km Khadi-Shivajinagar section in Pune division has expanded the cumulative coverage to 34.69 km, ensuring a more automated and secure signalling system.

- Yard Remodelling: Lahavit station in Bhusawal division underwent major alterations in its Down Main line, Down loop line, UP main line, and UP loop line, contributing to the cumulative figure of 16 remodelling this fiscal year.

- Redundancy Enhancement: Dual detection was provided at 4 Block Sections in Solapur division, increasing the redundancy count to 34 block sections this financial year.

- Relay Room Infrastructure: 2 additional Air Conditioning (AC) units were installed o­n the Solapur division, summing up to 20 AC installations in the current financial year.

- Double Distant Signaling: Double Distant Signaling was commissioned at 1 station in Solapur division during Daund-Manmad doubling, reaching a cumulative figure of 04 commissions this fiscal year. 

- Block Proving by Axle Counter: Additionally, o­ne (01) Block section was commissioned with Block Proving by Axle Counter (BPAC) o­n Solapur division, reaching 23 sections commissioned during the current financial year.

Telecommunication Upgrades:

The telecommunication division also witnessed significant improvements:

- Public Address Systems (PA): Manual PA systems were introduced at 14 stations of Bhusawal division namely Varangaon, Achegaon, Wadoda, Biswa Bridge, Khumgaonbuerty, Ghoti, Asvali, Lahavit, Odha, Kherwadi, Kasbe Sukene, Katepoorna, Borgaon and Yavalkhed while PC-based PA systems were implemented at 02 stations of Chandur Bazar and Jalamb in Bhusawal Division. This development brings the cumulative progress to 25 stations, including 22 Manual PA Systems and 03 PC-based PA Systems.

- Train Display Boards (TDB): Khandwa station in Bhusawal Division received Train Display Boards, encompassing Single Line Double Face TDB, Multiline TDB, All in o­ne TDB, and At a Glance TDB, marking progress at 08 stations cumulatively.

- GPS-Based Digital Clocks: 11 stations namely Ghoti, Asvali, Lahavit, Odha, Kherwadi, Kasbe Sukene, Niphad, Lasalgaon, Katepoorna, Borgaon and Yavalkhed in Bhusawal Division were equipped with GPS-based Digital Clocks, contributing to a total of 43 stations benefiting from this technology.

- Network Security Measures: Mumbai Division enhanced network security by installing 2 Firewalls with a 1+1 configuration server setup.

- ATVM and IP-based CA System: Eight (08) new ATVMs were installed at various stations namely Mumbra, Kalva, Mulund, Nahur, Bhandup, Kanjurmarg, Mulund and Vikroli in Mumbai Division. 

- IP-based CA System: An IP-based Centralized Announcement (CA) system was implemented at 10 stations namely Sahad, Titwala, Ambivali, Khadavali, Vashind, Asangaon. Atgaon, Thanset, Khardi and Ombermali in Mumbai Division, enhancing passenger communication and convenience.

- Fire Safety Measures: Fire Alarm Systems were provided at 4 locations (Nepanagar OFC Hut, Nepanagar RCIL Porta Hut, Khandwa OFC Hut, Khandwa Telephone Exchange) in Bhusawal Division, emphasizing safety protocols and preparedness.

These infrastructure developments are aligned with Central Railway’s commitment to delivering enhanced safety, efficiency, and passenger comfort.
