Introduction
Major activity undertaken by Stores Department are procurement of goods as required by various departments of Indian Railways. Procurement is normally done through online tendering mode (www.ireps.gov.in) or Government e-Marketplace (GeM). Procurement through spot purchase in some cases is also undertaken. It is a constant endeavour of this department to supply material at the door step of a consignee.
Scrap mobilization and disposal is another major activity entrusted to Stores Department. Scrap is disposed-off through e-Auction on IRePS (www.ireps.gov.in). Low value scrap is sometimes disposed-off through tender sale also.
Organization Structure
Senior Divisional Material Manager is the Officer in-charge of the Stores Department of Pune Division and caters to material requirements of Divisional consignees, Construction branch, and IRICEN, Pune. He is assisted by Divisional Material Manager and support staff. (view)Procurement (Link)
Procurement of material used by various departments of Indian Railway is arranged by Stores Department. All supply contracts (aka Stores Contracts) are entered into by SrDMM or DMM. Normally all procurement is done through online tendering process on Indian Railways E-procurement System. All types of scrap generated by Railways is disposed-off through online e-auction by Stores Department regularly. Sometimes, low value scrap is sold through tender sale also.
