Keeping pace with the ever changing times and taking into account the vulnerability of the railway system to terrorist and subversive activities, Railway Protection Force, Central Railway has initiated all necessary steps with a concerted view to provide assiduous security cover to the esteemed users of the railway system.

To bolster and upgrade the existing security setup, RPF Central Railway has initiated procurement procedures of modernized security gadgets on a mass scale. CCTV system & Door Frame Metal Detectors have been installed at stations; Hand Held Metal Detectors have been put in use for random frisking of passengers. Bullet Proof jackets, Night Vision goggles etc are also under process of procurement. Officers have been trained by the National Security Guards(NSG) at New Delhi in Bomb detection & Disposal. Baggage screening machines have been installed at CSTM, Dadar stations. Staffs/officers have been trained by the IB and state intelligence department in intricacies of intelligence gathering and dissemination of information. Capsule training for the staff and officers on these lines are being regularly conducted. Disaster Management Teams has also been set up at the Divisions to meet any eventuality.

At present 54 dogs (Sniffer & Tracker)are working for detection of crime and Narcotics case with divisions. In addition to this procurement of 15 new pups is under process.

 As per guidelines of Railway Board, Cyber Cell was set-up at Pune on 19 June 2019. It was instrumental for unearthing nefarious activities of touts in e-ticketing through illegal software. It has also imparted training to RPF staff from various Zones and also to outside agencies.

           RPF Social Media Monitoring and Analysis Cell (SOMMAC) has set in collaboration with Intelligence Bureau (IB) from                    12.02.2021 in Mumbai. It is first of this kind on Indian Railways. Staff trained by IB New Delhi, SIB Mumbai and Special                    Branch of   Mumbai Police has been posted in this cell.

  ISS has been completely implemented in 17 identified stations over CR and Station Security Plan for these stations is under    implementation.

         

         Review of implementation of Video Surveillance System has been done with RailTel and sister departments and road map              finalised. VSS control rooms have been made functional at Divisional as well as Zonal Headquarters.

05      Drones have been procured by Central Railway. Surveillance through Drone has been introduced in Mumbai, Bhusawal                  and Pune Division as a force multiplier in crime control, disaster management etc.

 

         Captain Arjun - A robot was developed by RPF Pune division during Pandemic for contactless screening of passengers,                  thermal scanning, sanitizer dispenser, announcement system for educating passengers against COVID etc.

 

         Contactless passengers screening system has been installed at CSMT and LTT stations of Mumbai Division.

  Railway Flood Relief Team (RFRT) has been set up for the purpose reaching out to passengers stranded in trains due to         flooding of track with RPF men/women trained by NDRF. 05 nos. of Motorised inflatable boats with safety equipments have     been procured by Mumbai division and stationed at 05 different locations, vulnerable for flooding for this purpose.
