Salient Features of Mechanical Department

Solapur Division is having Route Kilometres of 1004.79 and holy places at Pandharpur, Tuljapur, Gangapur, Akkalkot, Shirdi and at Solapur itself with Shri Siddheshwar Temple.

The Department is headed by Sr.DME, assisted by a DME and three ADMEs posted at SUR & DD respectively. Sanctioned staff strength for Loco Running is 1333 and C&W is 780. Major Mechanical establishments of the Division are situated at Solapur (SUR), Daund (DD) & Wadi (WD).

There are 06 Crew Booking Lobbies and Running Rooms at Wadi, Solapur, Daund, Puntamba, Kurduwadi and Latur. There are 3 RCDs located at Wadi, Daund & Kurduwadi for fuelling of diesel locomotives. 

Total Coach Holding of division is 356 coaches, out of which 126 are LHB coaches. Coaching activity is being carried out mainly at Solapur and Kalburgi. The other minor depots are Daund, Pandharpur, Latur, Sai Nagar Shirdi where only terminal attention is being carried out.

Major Repair activities viz Intermediate Overhauling (IOH) and Safe to run Examination are being carried out at Solapur. On an average 16 coaches are being given IOH/SS-1 every month from the well equipped repair shed.

The major freight activities are being carried out at Daund & Wadi depots. Average 36 Trains per Month are examined with Premium BPC. 11 BCC rakes of privately owned wagons are maintained at Daund and Wadi. 10 BTPN CC rakes are maintained at Daund.

ROH of wagons is being carried out at Daund with the yearly target of 1500 wagons. This Shed is provided with surface Wheel Lathe, EOT Cranes with UST Facility for testing Axle.

There is one In-motion weigh bridge located at WD with 120T Capacity which is being maintained by the Mechanical Department.

‘A’ class Accident Relief Train (ART) with 140T crane is stationed at Daund and Wadi.  ‘B’ class Accident Relief Train (ART) is stationed at Wadi. Scale-I ARMV is situated at Daund and Wadi. Self Propelled Accident Relief Medical Van (SPARMV) along with Road ART is stationed at Solapur.

Rakes of Siddheshwar/Udyan and Hutatma Express are running with LHB coaches for better passenger comfort. The rake of Hasan Express is upgraded to Utkrisht standards.
