Climate change is the biggest crisis at present humanity is facing. It causes rising sea level, raging storms, increasing temperature, wild fires, severe drought and floods. This situation adversely affects our health, social harmony, economy as well as national security. There will be fight among people and countries as well for fresh water stock of which is getting reduced because of the increasing temperature.
Thermal Power plants, Automobiles are the largest source of carbon pollution, continuously emitting large quantity of carbon dioxide into the air.
All nations have started taking initiatives to combat this growing threat, working toward an international agreement in which every country on earth plays its part. Many of the world's developed nations, which are the largest polluters, have stepped up their action with efforts from cities, businesses, sports leagues and many other individuals and groups that have acknowledged the urgent need for climate action.
Government of India has also taken initiatives to control the bad effects of global warming by way of increasing the generation of renewable and clean and less polluting energy like Solar power and Bio-diesel.
Indian Railway, being the largest transporter of passengers and goods in India, can contribute in a large way in containing the carbon pollution. Central Railway has taken initiative in this direction like use of Bio-diesel, Solar Energy, Water Harvesting, Water Recycling, Waste Management, Use of Bio-Toilets in coaches and increasing the throughput enhancement in freight and passenger traffic.
