Salient Features of Mechanical Department
Solapur Division is having Route Kilometers of 819.17 and holy places at Pandharpur, Tuljapur, Gangapur, Akkalkot and at Solapur itself with Shri Siddheshwar Temple.
The Department is headed by Sr.DME, assisted by a DME & ADME posted at SUR.
Major Mechanical establishments of the Division are situated at Solapur (SUR), Kalaburagi (KLBG) & Wadi (WD).
Total coach holding of division is 228 coaches, out of which 180 are LHB coaches. Coaching activity is being carried out mainly at Solapur and Kalaburagi.
The other minor depots are Pandharpur, Latur & Kurduwadi where only terminal attention is being carried out.
Major Repair activities viz Intermediate Overhauling (IOH), SS-1 schedule and Safe to run Examination are being carried out at Solapur.
On an average 11 coaches are being given IOH/SS-1 every month from the well-equipped repair shed.
The major freight activities are being carried out at Wadi depot. Average 28 trains per month are examined with Premium BPC. 05 BCCW rakes of privately owned wagons are maintained Wadi.
One Railway owned Electronic In-Motion Weigh Bridge is located at WD with 120T Capacity which is being maintained by the Mechanical Department.
‘A’ class Accident Relief Train (ART) with 140T crane is stationed at Wadi. Scale-I ARMV is situated at Wadi. Self Propelled Accident Relief Medical Van (SPARMV) along with Road ART is stationed at Solapur.
Prestigious trains viz. Solapur-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express is also being maintained at Solapur. Presently, a new Vande Bharat train was started from Kalaburagi-Bangaluru which is also being maintained at Kalaburagi.
Rakes of Siddheshwar/Udyan, Hassan Express and Hutatma Express are running with LHB coaches for better passenger comfort.
