Activities of Electrical Department

Electrical department of Solapur Division plays vital role to fulfill the requirement of commuters & Railway employees.

Electrical Department caters following services:

A.Out station maintenance service

B.Train lighting & Air conditioning.

C.Traction distribution work in section ANK–DD, DD-KWV, SVG-WD, MRJ-DLGN & KLBG-TJSP section.

D.Co-ordination with executing agencies for Railway electrification in

1)RVNL/ RE/ PA for electrification of BGVN-KLBG section,

2)RE/SC for electrification of LUR-KWV-MRJ section.

E.Monitoring of electric loco hauled train movement (TRS –TRO).

F.Monitoring work of commissioning of ELS DD Loco shed carried out by IRCON.

G.Co-ordination with RVNL/SC for general power supply arrangements for construction of Latur Metro coach facto



Out station maintenance service:

Activities covered are to get supply from various supply authorities & provide various Railway stations, service buildings, Railway quarters, Pump house & maintenance/upkeep of lifts, escalators etc. Entire Solapur Division is being covered for maintenance with 06 depots which are asunder.

Traction distribution

 

Main activity of TRD maintenance is covered from 08 nos. of TRD depots at YL, BAP, ANG, BWD, DD, KLBG, SGRE, KWV & one Remote Control Centre at SUR which is primarily involved in maintaining of Overhead equipment, Power Supply Installation equipment, up keeping of Tower wagons and other infrastructure in good fettle for attending to TRD breakdowns and other emergency & Co-ordination with State Electricity Board for un-interrupted power supply to OHE.

BGVN-KLBG section: RVNL has started electrification work of the section in two packages i.e. BGVN-SUR & SUR-KLBG. LOA is issued to M/s KEC for BGVN-SUR on 24.12.2018 & Tata Projects for SUR-KLBG section on 24.12.2018.

TRO

 

A.Monitoring of train movement (TRS –TRO):

 

In the section which is electrified, movement of AC loco hauled trains are being monitored and trouble shooting of minor problems in AC locos through TLC at divisional control office. As on date 41 pairs (Spl. Trains/ Kisan Spl./ Covid Spl/ Parcel Spl) of trains are working on AC Electric Locos. 5326 numbers of goods trains in year 2020-2021 (upto November- 2020) have been hauled on electric traction.

B.Conversion training (DSL to AC Loco) in Solapur division:-

 

Sanctioned strength of loco running staff is 1171. MoR is 1010, out of these 953 staff have undergone conversion training .Out of 953 AC trained crew, competency certificate is issued to total 672 staff.

Setting up of New Electric Loco Shed at Daund

Railway Electrification of ANK-DD, DD-KWV, SVG-WD, MRJ-DLGN and KLBG-TJSPsection is commissioned. Remaining electrification of BGVN-KLBG and MRJ-KWV- LUR section is under progress.In all these sections the hauling of loads will be changed from diesel to electric traction.

 

Railway Board has issued sanction for establishing new Electric Loco Shed for homing 200 locos at abandoned steam loco shed place at Daund. It has appeared in Pink book of 2012-13 at Sr. No. 386.Further Railway Board has allotted the said work to M/s IRCON/ NDLS.

Major Achievements on Electrical Department

1.

i. Newly Electrified section-

a)YL-ANK- CRS sanctioned is obtained for 15.59 TKM OHE UP Main line (15.01 TKM pertains to SUR division) between sections YL-ANK.

b)CRS sanction obtained for Electrification of sections KLBG-SVG (38.84 TKM), KLBG-TJSP (19 TKM), BGVN-WSB (34.5 TKM), WSB-KWV (95.51 TKM) Total TKM =187.85 TKM

c)EIG already sanction for DLGN –PVR (TKM 82.6), PVR-KWV (53.55 TKM) - Total 136.15 TKM awaiting for CRS inspection.

Improvement in Passenger Amenity-

i.          02 Nos. of escalators have been commissioned at Ahmednagar station in Feb-2020.

ii.        01 No. of Monumental flag inaugurated at Ahmednagar station.

iii.       Improvement in illumination level at PVR, LUR, UMD, ANG, KPG & SNSI station work is completed.

iv.At DD station, new wiring work of extended FOB from PF 6 to Railway colony work has been completed and 22 Nos. LED fitting 40 (w) has been provided.

v.           Sanitization and disinfection of all lifts and escalators with disinfectant like Lizol and Dettol is being done regularly to prevent spread of COVID-19.

Energy Efficiency –

i.1.5 ton (28 Nos.) energy efficient AC Units have been provided against old ACs, resulting approximate saving of 440.8 kWh per day; annual saving of Rs. 16,08,920/-

ii.2 ton (12 Nos.) energy efficient AC units have been provided against old ACs, resulting approximate saving of 78.3 kWh per day;annual saving of Rs. 2,85,795/-

iii.Replacement of 405 Nos. old ceiling fans with energy efficient fans, resulting approximate saving of 182.25 kWh per day; annual saving of Rs. 6,65,212/-

iv.Over-aged assets including DG sets (30 Nos.), UPS (97 Nos.), water coolers (69 Nos.) and ACs (90 Nos.) have been replaced this year.

Energy Conservation Measures –

The economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in India has been largely disruptive. The variety of measures is being taken to tackle the situation. The Electrical department of Solapur division, Central Railway, has taken following steps to reduce energy bills during lockdown.

  1. During lockdown, regular passenger trains were cancelled, hence only 30 % lights at stations were kept ‘ON’.

2.Water pumping hours were reduced due to reduction in coach watering requirement.

3.New LED lights have been provided in place of old luminaries at all stations.

4.Lifts and Escalators were kept ‘OFF’ during idle time.

The electricity consumption in units (kWh) was reduced by nearly 14.96% and energy bills (in Rs.) was reduced by nearly 16.41% in the period April 2020 to Oct 2020 as compared to the period April to Oct of 2019.

Improvement in Electrical infrastructure facilities –

i.New 8 wheeler tower wagon DETC-200017 has been commissioned for SGRE OHE depot.

ii.Construction of New tower wagon shed has been completed at KLBG

iii.All 06 Nos. of TSS of the division has been commissioned with E1 channel.

iv.OHE sectioning between YL-ANK has been improved by erection of isolators on DN and UP line at (YL end) ANK station. This addition of isolator on main line facilitated the availability AC power supply at all lines at ANK station, thus making more power block margin between YL-ANK and also improved operation facility of AC traction.

v.Height of contact wire (OHE) under ROB between BAP- PDGN has been increased to 5.15 m from 5.0 m to facilitate passage of DSDC.

vi.HOG testing kit has been developed at coaching depot Solapur to test HOG complaint power cars.
