- Safety department is a multi-disciplinary safety outfit.
- Safety department merely acts as a catalyst. Each executive department is responsible for running trains must own the task of monitoring safety.
- Monitoring implementation of all directives issued by Railway Board in matters pertaining to safety.
- Liaison with other department for observation of maintenance and operational practices.
- Carry out safety super-checks of functioning of operational and maintenance machinery.
- Preparation and circulation of posters, bulletins etc for safety awareness.
- Safety drives based on the safety environment.
- Regular counselling and monitoring of staff involved in maintenance and operation.
- Also Endeavor to Sensitize road users at unmanned LCs and general public near the vicinity of Railway stations for prevention of level crossing accidents and fire in train cases.
